Aasmaan me chupta hai ek chaand pyaara,
Taaro ke bich, chamkaata hai yeh apna roop nyaara!
Ever witnessed the brightness of the moon? Fascinating! isn’t it?
Tonight on no moon day, peep out of the windows, and gaze at the moon-less sky…doesn’t it still look beautiful? Indeed! it has its own beauty and charm.
With the chronology of time, No moon turns into a full moon. From the dark sky of Adhik Ashwin Amavasya, the Chaand gets brighter each day during Nav-ratri and eventually turns luminescent on the Kojagiri Poornima! This cycle of nature symbolizes no matter how darker days of our lives are, they are bound to turn into bright ones.
In spite of the moon waning, we still appreciate its beauty. Then why can’t we accept the waning beauty within the people around us??
On these darker days, falls the most colorful festival of India, Nav-ratri. In Nav-ratri, we worship the avatars of our female deities, who have dashed the evilness since the time immemorial. At the same epoch of every year, we have been following this sacred tradition evolving just after Amavasya, as our esteemed culture since then.
Hinduism treated every purest form of these women deities vailing from Shailputri to Skandamata and worshipped them with utmost goodwill and reverence. But has our culture restored its essence in considering each woman equally pure, in today’s society?
If Amavasya, the darker phase, is an auspicious sign for the darkness of the moon, why does our society fail to accept the waning value and respect for women? Today, is every form of women treated with equal dignity and pride ?
If we peep in our own life, is our sky only about the moon ? Oh! Did we forget the stars? Nevertheless even in the waning phases of the moon, we all can come together like stars and help the moon to make the sky bright.
On today’s auspicious dark Amavasya, we make an attempt to brighten the outcasted ideologies of our society that hesitate to accept darkness at every nook and corner of our existence. We also aim to cast a glimpse on the true historical significance of our very own culture.
The universe has laid its laws. It states how our life goes, from being nothing, to moving towards everything and yet again, from being everything to being nothing. So this nav-ratri stay connected to see the glooming beauty of some unaccepted celestes of this universe, called ‘society’.
